 How does Probate Court affect you?
The role of Probate Court is to:
- resolve legal matters pertaining to the guardianship of children or adults;
- issue rulings of mental or physical incapacity; and
- settle estates, resolve claims and distribute the assets of someone who has passed away.
Probate also makes sure that executors of estates carry out their tasks in accordance with the law and the wishes of the deceased. When it comes time for legal decisions that no one wants to face, Probate Court resolves disputes and protects beneficiaries' interests.
